That sure looked like swamp blues to me, was it? (He's done lots of old-style funk before of course, but I don't think I've seen him do blues...)
Not sure whether that was the "swamp" variety Soz but I have seen him do blues before. He seems able to turn his hand to pretty much any kind of music he likes.

I wanna go to Vegas! (If I still lived in L.A., I'd so just jump in the car -- we talked about it a few times but never did.)
Great review in the New Yorker by Sasha Frere-Jones:

Oh hey and there's an audio here!:

This guy's 48!
(Article title: "Dorian Purple." Get it?)
Wicked. I would sell my soul to get to one of his shows. I hope he does a European tour soon.
I've seen him once and it was spectacular!!
He wanted to play in a small setting only (1000 people) and
UCSD accomodated him. Tickets were sold only at the entrance,
and we stood in line forever to get in, but it was so worth it!
Yeah last time I saw him play in Manchester, it was a pretty small venue, he seems to prefer that these days.
What year did you go see him CJ?
Gosh, I don't remember, Dorothy, but it was in the 90s
I saw his "Purple Rain" tour when he blew through Chicago in 1984 or '85. Incredible. Had tickets for his "LoveSexy" tour but the flu knocked me out. You KNOW I had to be more than half-dead, right?
Just the other day a friend mentioned going to see Prince in Vegas. hmmm...
I know I've said this before, but:
1. I was born in 1970.
2. I was raised in Minneapolis. (IN. Not a suburb.)
That's all you need to know when it comes to me 'n' Prince. :-)
(I've been having a fun time wandering around YouTube and finding old Prince videos -- good stuff.)
eoe, I just saw your edit. GO!

I don't know...I'd have to totally ditch my old man and I don't think he'd appreciate that a bit. I'm afraid that my days of lusting after 'lil' stuff' in person are over. But I've got my memories. And a few prized momentos.
Oh Soz. You know I can't do that, girl. Not even for the Prince.
Really?
I mean I'm not saying ditch your hubby to leap into Prince's arms... I'm saying hubby can fend for himself for a bit, go have fun with your girlfriend and catch Prince performing while he's still at the top of his game. (Though at the rate he's going he'll still be at the top of his game when he's 99...)
If I had time, money, and a suitable traveling companion, I'd SO ditch E.G.

I don't know, Soz. When he had to come out of his pumps for a spell last year, that kind of dimmed the magic a tad bit. He's not the immortal beauty after all. Beauty's dogs were barkin'!
eoe, go go go go GO!
if not for prince only, go for the heck of the whole trip! i'm sure your hubby will survive it in one piece.
I don't know why you ladies are trying to stir up trouble in my house.
