Hi. I am playing the piano at a nearby nursing home. One of the residents is from LA and she grew up speaking French.
I remember, vaguely, a French song. It was sung by a female. Probably about, at least, 40 years old now. I mean, I don't think it's a classic, and I know it's not a new song. It may have been about love or life. Hey, what isn't?
And that's all I remember.
I know, that's practically nothing to go on.
If any one can think of any titles to French songs that are sort of a standards, then I'll research them one at a time till I find it on Youtube.
Thanks!
La vie en rose, Edith Piaf's signature tune might fit the bill.
I can't believe it!
Yes!
That's it.
Omy.
thank you!
You're quite welcome. It's the first one that came to mind, one of my all-time faves.
It was either that or J'taime (spelling?), another sort of song.
Hi, Ossobuco.
Thanks for stopping in.
Your comment reminds me of a story.
My step-father's native tongue was French.
When I was a little girl we studied French in school. One day, I wanted to surprise him with "J'taime" when it was bedtime.
So, bedtime came, and I said "J'taime" several times and went to bed.
A few minutes later I came running down the stairs crying, saying, "I love you, Daddy. I'm sorry, but J'taime just doesn't mean ANYTHING to me!"
Obviously, when you slept, your dreams were all in English.
