I always thought Mr. Darcy the sexist man in all of classic literature. I loved him from the first moment of reading Pride and Prejudice.
I really loved the PBS version of Bleak House and tried to read the book but Dickens' tendency to overload with details angers me so much that I can't read him.
When PBS did The Forsythe Saga last year, I reread the book and loved it. The funny thing is that TFS was among the first three books that I checked out when allowed into the adult fiction room at the Dearborn (MI) Public Library as a ninth grader. My 14 y/o self said, so what? It's just the story of a family. My 58 y/o self loved it.
BTW, Soames Forsythe is the last man I'd ever want to have an affair with. Gag! The young actor who played SOames appeared as himself on television recently. It was nice to see him looking his age and so relaxed.
