I, like many here, am about to start importing products from Asia and want to get some feedback on the usefulness of Brokers. Can anyone here tell me his or her experience of using or not using a local broker in the country that I am importing from? I am planning on flying to Guangdong Province to meet several of the suppliers prior to placing my first order face to face. I have the LOC and am ready to receive the first shipment, but I hear so much about brokers and am wondering if they are worth the costs. I have several questions if anyone can help:
What exactly do they do, are they full service and can they manage the logistics from purchase order to delivery here in the US (Baltimore MD). Do they vouch for suppliers, purchasers, can they convey LOC's. If anyone has a good experience or if they can recommend a broker to discuss these questions with it would be appreciated.
I thank you all in advance.
Regards
Phil
I'm in the same container.
Note that there a 6, 10, 20 , and 40 ft containers. Manufacturers like the 20 and 40 cause it runs the bill up higher but if you are insistant enough you can get a 6 or 10ft container.
Manufacturer I'm dealing with wants FOB. So I went to my local port to see what shippers/custom brokers operate from it then asked what the cost would be for them to pick it up and clear it through customs and deliver it. Still waiting on a reply. The one I submitted to was through a web page. So do a shearch on shipping companies that are also brokers.
Right now until I get a response from that I am stuck with a delivery a province over from where I am.
could you leave your phone number or email here ?
Posting personal information on the internet is not a good idea.
You can be physically traced through a telephone number and when spammers get hold of an e-mail addy, your mailbox will be swamped.
