Ha!

Reminds me..

A girlfriend and I took a vacation to P. Vallarta. That was some vacation....
late sixties/possibly early seventies. I should probably write that trip up, lord love a duck.

Skipping over quite a lot, we ended up staying a what was at the time an exclusive fine hotel. She and the tennis pro fell fairly quickly into love tharn. During the hours they weren't dealing with their romance and how it wouldn't work out, we three hung out together for several days...
and a boyfriend and I eventually met him again in Mexico DF. <Laughing, he's fairly eminent now...> The thing was though, that TPro, goaded on by us, put J'taime onto the speakers throughout the hotel. Who knew then what would be a lifetime memory.

Note, I'm almost positive I heard that in LA too.

Hahaha, that must have been quite a spectacle hearing the song
over the loudspeaker throughout the entire hotel. Laughing

yeah, osso - and aida is playing there this year!!!! Oh, if only we could go... check on this link:

http://shop.cosi.it/tol4arena/cosi.asp

and it's je t'aime, I think - I like you (or I you like!) -

I took German from a short, squat nasty German lady - her name was Frau Laue and she was MEAN. I survived the course but only through fear. There was an 80% drop out rate... hey, Frau... get another job, maybe? A German friend of mine says she loves hearing Canadians speak German because it's so soft... I always feel like i'm butchering any foreign language...

CJ, I'm going to check out that link now... why is it or was it banned in the States?

By the way, Luigi Tenco (mentioned earlier) committed suicide in 1967 but he was like the Dean Martin of Italy...

Still haven't checked the Aida link..

wanted to add that my German II class was in the grad business ad building, and I could never make it to class on time, re distance from the zoology building, so I dropped it. I pretty much enjoyed it, except that a friend in that class, one of my first friends outside of my odd little Catholic world up to that time, died during semester break... ack, tossed from a horse but with her foot still in the stirrup. Not to hold that against the class, but it is forever an association.

Oh! That's terrible and I can certainly see how the connection remains. It's sad, on an earthly, physical level... Spiritually it's okay, though, right? (Topic for a different thread, eh?)

If you do go, pleaaaaaase take photos for me of the big piazza outside the arena, pz Bra. (If I ever write up the book...)
I'm very keen on one of the pieces from Nabucco...

Um, I'm not your most spiritual a2ker...
but I have a certain fatalism.

I'm perfect this morning, Mame, thank you! Hope you're doing well
too. How's your pregnant daughter?

How are you, osso?

I love all the French oldtimers: Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Beaucoup, Juliette Greco, Edith Piaf, Maurice Chevalier, Francoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan, and
many more.

I have some Aznavour and Piaf cds, but no Chevalier... I should look into that. Never heard of the others before -- thanks for the tips!

My daughter is great, thank you, Calamity. They just bought a house and are moving in next week. She is due March 9th, so will let you know what happens.

How's YOUR daughter? Laughing

Juliette Greco INFO
has a great voice (she's old now) and always had some mystery surrounding her. She always dressed in black clothes and sang in dark
basement type clubs.

My daughter is still elated over her soccer win (3 : 0) and glowing.

Osso, you should open a restaurant. You're such a great cook, and
I always get hungry when you write about cooking.
