I hate that word. I don't like the way it sounds. I don't like the way it looks. I don't particularly like it when you put it in proper context.
Even when used properly by the most mellifluous voice the word still sounds harsh and out of place.
It sounds like a friggin sneeze. It is cold and germanic sounding and I don't believe we have a place for such a word in the English language.
I am considering beginning a petition to have the word expelled.
Will you sign?
And what words, if any, do you hate?
I adore eschew, and shall never eschew it
For the likes of you, who are wont to pooh pooh it.
However, I am not fond of crepuscular.
Lugubrious always strikes me odd when I read it. Where in hell did that one come from?
What the heck is eschew? Dont think I ever used it before. Must not be a word we use in the south

From Latin lūgubris, from lūgēre, to mourn.

There's something seriously wrong with a woman who has no place for crepuscular in her life.
Crepuscular flows like honey.
Let's stick to english here, old europe. If you want to use gesundheit I'm sure Calamity Jane has a thread dealing with such things.
However, if it was a clever ploy on your part to make eschew sound like a sneeze, I will accept that on this thread.
Pantry...I hate that word.
No, I wasn't making a joke that flew over your head, gus. I was just replying to your first post...
I guess I aint gonna be no fun here cuz I dont have any odd words in my vocabulary sep maybe Palpate. the word is not near as bad as doing it to a horse.
I consider this thread melioristic by nature and, by the way, melioristic is very high on my list of favorite words.
It is two spots down from crepuscular.

You're a long way from home, aren't you, horsefarm?
Howdy Gus...yup no one will come out and play...maybe if I stay here I will learn sumpin lol
I'm frenetic about your vocabulary, Gus.
How da hell should I pronounce eschew?
I also don't like linoleum.
Linoleum isn't such a bad word. It has a nice flow to it and is not very harsh sounding.
Gonad, however, is an entirely different story.
Frankly, I don't like 'paradigm'.
Well, being a city slicker, I practically never use gonad.
Aluminium I don't like at all. It's terrible to pronounce.
