I remember one year in particular when Miracle on 34th Street must have been on 34 times in one week... it was a nightmare. I couldn't get away from it - it followed me everywhere. I was scarred for years. To this day I duck my head when I hear the title.
Another famous one is A Christmas Carol - I can only watch that one about every five years...
I think my favourite Christmas "movie" is The Grinch That Stole Christmas".
What do you like or not like?
The Grinch is among my all times favorites. It' a Wonderful Life was good the first 200 times I saw it.

Oh yeah, that's a classic.
Another movie that was my favourite was Jingle All the Way. It's a typical hollywood comedy movie, but they have Jetpacks! I think I grew out of it though... for the most part.
No, I don't enjoy them very much. A bit too sugary-sweet for my liking.
Still, I'd choose a Christmas movie any day in preference to those same old Easter biblical movies they keep trotting out year after year. You know the ones, Charlton Heston with vaselined chest, chariot races, gladiatorial battles .......
Does "Love Actually" count as a Christmas movie? That would be my favourite one. Absolutely. Good music, too.
i tend to like the less serious ones
a christmas story, scrooged, christmas vacation
and for a bit of sentimentality it's a wonderful life
Each couple of years, I watch the original Grinch, It's a Wonderful Life, the first Miracle on 34th Street. I watch the british 1950s version of Scrooge (A Christmas Carol), with Alistair Sim, about four times a year, even in July.
The last Christmas movie that I have watched is the original "Miracle on 34th Street." I was a kid, and it was cute. Christmas films are much too sugary sweet for my tastes.

Your description of Chuckie brought to mind his Ben Hur performance
He certainly had a bod, didn't he?

I couldn't live in the same house with you at Christmas
The Alistair Sim one is the only one to watch, though, every five years...
I watched a rather sappy one last night, Mame - "Secret Santa" on the Women's Network. I knew who the Santa was in the first third of the movie.
I guess it was somewhat fun, but it did have it's cornball stuff, too.
I tend to stay away from the traditional movies, with the exception of Alistair Sim version of Scrooge, but I only watch that every few years.

No problem. I have a mobile home.
Oh, by the way, Mame, if you have a hankering to check out "Secret Santa" The Women's Network is running it again at 7pm tonight.
Gee, darn it all - I've got a Christmas party to go to!
haha, See, I knew you were the christmassy type.
I like all the ones that were listed so far,
but another one which caught me by surprise was
A Christmas Story (1983)
I really enjoyed seeing things from a kid's perspective again!
A Christmas Story is one of my favorites, too. It made me laugh out loud a few times, which is not a common occurrence in sappy sweet Christmas movies. ("You'll shoot yer eye out kid"--quote from Santa.)
I've watched It's a Wonderful Life one time too many. I need at least ten more years to go by before I watch it again.
I used to enjoy The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant), but it bores me lately.

These are the ones I watch every year.

Yes I like that version too Mame. I also adore Scrooged and It's A Wonderful Life.
I watched Home Alone 2 last night on telly and got really mad with myself for crying at the cheesy parts. Pathetic I know.
