Actually thanks for sympathy, glad it didnt result in amputation for most of you.
I went to buy a heat pad today. Chemists (pharmacy) said they no longer supplied them because people were leaving them in the microwave for 10 minutes slapping it on and it was too hot resulting in burnt tendons.
Will use hot water bottle strapped to the shoulder. Well two actually as it would look daft otherwise round the pub. With motorcycle helmet and suitable T shirt I'll say I'm a quarterback.
