yesterday once more

I know the entire lyric of this song except the chorus between "It's yesterday once more" and "lookin' back on how it was". And I searched the internet with nothing useful. Just like this site.

http://www.lyricsdepot.com/the-carpenters/yesterday-once-more.html

Pl. It sounds like "Shala the long way, Shala the long way" or "Shala the languish, Shala the languish".

As far as I remember, it's just a bit of nonsense to fill in the gaps.

Shalla la la laaa!

Dont think they are proper lyrics, just doo bee doo's that only 70's singers could get away with.

But we are organizing a chorus, is that OK if we sing "shoobeedoolanglang" on the stage?

Yesterday Once More
Carpenters

When I was young
I'd listened to the radio
Waitin' for my favorite songs
When they played I'd sing along
It made me smile

Those were such happy times
And not so long ago
How I wondered where they'd gone
But they're back again
Just like a long lost friend
All the songs I loved so well

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-wo-wo
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're starting to sing's
So fine

When they get to the part
Where he's breakin' her heart
It can really make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more

Lookin' back on how it was
In years gone by
And the good times that I had
Makes today seem rather sad
So much has changed

It was songs of love that
I would sing to theN
And I'd memorize each word
Those old melodies
Still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-wo-wo
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're starting to sing's
So fine

All my best memories
Come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-wo-wo
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're starting to sing's
So fine

She did have an exceptional voice, didn't she?
Same with Mama Cass. Both left way too soon....

That doesn't make sense. Please read my post and material girl's post again. Thank you anyway.

if you are looking for the exact lyrics

there they are

if it makes sense or not, makes no never mind, it is what it is

the basic premise is even the nonsense backup singer crap is integral to the feeling evoked by the tune

every Sha-la-la-la, Wo-wo-wo and Shing-a-ling-a-ling

I don't quite understand that. It seems you are not happy. So I apologize for what I have said. And thank you again.

But I still don't know what to do. I simply think Material Girl's make me more aware of what to do. Since your answer above is still too difficult to me. Do you mean the "nonsense crap" is changing every time you sing it? And it depends on the mood of the singer and tune of the music at the time? If not, as a chorus team, we must have the exact "nonsense crap" so that we can let the audience hear something just like it.

Thank you, I don't mean to hurt anyone here.

i'm not angry or unhappy

it's hard to explain it any further

word for word, what i posted, is the song as the carpenters sang it

i think this part is actually at the end of the song, with the music slowing towards the end to emphasize the "yesterday once more"

Translatorcz-

As if by magic I found my copy of a Carpenters album at work, I blew the dust off and listened

Do you mean the backing vocals translatorcz?

The shoobeedooo, and sha la la lasss are indeed nonsense, but they are describing 'lyrics' from other songs that she loves, saying how good they are. When she says they 'still shines'
it means she still thinks they are as great now as they were.

Near the end of the song there are backing vocals after she sings 'still shiiiines' then i think it says 'only oldies but goodies'.
Oldies meaning old songs, goodies meaning they are still popular.

It's not the repeating lyrics at the end of the song. Just as I have said, it's in the middle of the song, just between "It's yesterday once more" and "Looking back on how it was in years gone by and good times that I had". It may be lyrics or whatever you call it (backing vocals?). I had thought it to be chorus.

I think "shoobeedoo langlang" sounds just similar to it. But the second "lang" you (material girl) said, I hear again and again, but I think it sounds more like "way" than "lang".

But if you insist, ok, I'll accept the explanation. I want the information I get from here to be accurate. So forgive my asking repeatedly. And thank you both.
