BBC RADIO 1 DJ ALAN "Fluff" FREEMAN DIES AGED 79.

"GREETINGS, POP PICKERS"

He was a Sunday evening tradition for many of us Brits who were teenagers in the late 60's, the 70's and early 80's.
The vast majority of young people in Britain would sit huddled round their transistor radios at that time, listening to him presenting "Pick of the Pops" in his own inimitable style.

Thanks for the memories, Fluff.

"..........Veteran DJ Alan "Fluff" Freeman, whose "Not 'arf" catchphrase made him a household name, has died aged 79.
The former BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 presenter had been living in a nursing home in London since 2000 after being diagnosed with arthritis.

Freeman joined the BBC in 1960 after a spell working in his native Australia.

His Pick of the Pops programme - with its distinctive theme tune and his "greetings, pop pickers" introduction - saw him become one of the UK's top DJs.

The broadcaster died peacefully at Brinsworth House in Twickenham, London................".........(more)

Aussie Alan was one of the very few DJ's that didn't talk through their arse, his kind of professionalism will be sadly missed Sad
