I am regularly visiting a German question and answer page:
http://www.kurzefrage.de

One day I had a question concerning CMAS in the States.
So I started looking for an American equivalent to my German page.
I did not get a really satisfying answer, but ever since, I keep looking in!

I followed some friends from the dying and now defunct Abuzz. a2k is the best forum site I have been on.

The same reason as Edgar. When I joined Abuzz, I was a computer "newbie", and was immediately "hooked".

Boredom, to learn things, to be entertained, to tell people what I think, to get opinions, to ask questions,to push buttons.

I just checked my files, and I found that I got my first computer in September 1999. I got the internet a month later, and almost immediately found an ad for Abuzz in the New York Times.

Boy, doesn't time fly when you are having fun! Laughing

dys- I participate in some internet polls. On one of them, one of the questions that they always ask at the end, is how many hours do you spend on the internet. I blush when I think of the hours that I spend on the net. Embarrassed

Call me George...

Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a
damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily
pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every
funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper
hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from
deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's
hats off - then, I account it high time to get to A2K as soon as I can.

That reminds me of the old expression, "Be careful what you wish for. You may just get it!" Laughing

Honestly? I was lonely. My hubby was working these insane hours and I didn't have any close friends (closest one lived 1 hour away). So I joined and instantly loved it.

Because I had something to say.

After reading several threads as an anonymous guest I thought this seemed like a thoughtful place with lots of smart and funny people contributing. It made me want to join and find out more.

Sometimes I have a lot of time on my hands. A2K was suggested to me as something I might really enjoy. I had never been to a forum and at first thought you were all nuts. And what's with the goofy avatars? Over the last 6 (?) months I've learned to appreciate most of you (even the posters I violently disagree with [but only in my head -- I'm still being polite, give me some time]). I really like that there is dissension and opinions from around the world. Makes me think. And that's a good thing Very Happy

I usually have some "down time" during the day. So I joined a2k. It helps keep me sharp.
