I keep getting emails claiming to be from different banks and companies except they are obviously not because they all look pretty much the same. They tell me that I urgently need to reply with my bank details and everything else that these people like to have ... dont worry I'm not dumb enough to believe them. I even got one from someone called 'Princess Nafica' asking me to marry her and become king of some obscure African territory Laughing . As I said I don't reply to them, but if there's any way I could stop them it would be good because they're really annoying.

Those e Mails are "phishing" expeditions. Reputable companies do not ask for information via E Mail. If you use Outlook express, you can block those senders, but they keep coming. On web based E Mails, you can report the messages as spam. My Yahoo account will block those addresses for me.

I never had a bit of spam for five years on my Outlook Express account, until one of my husband's friends started to send him jokes that he had sent to half the immediate world. The "phishers" harvest these E Mail addresses, and use it for their nefarious purposes. I taught the friend how to send stuff bcc, but the damage was already done. I think that he took the hint, 'cause I have not gotten a joke from him in a long, long, time! Cool

It is really strange. I have a number of E Mail accounts, that I use for different purposes. On my Outlook Express, I get ads for pharmacies, Viagra, and penny stocks. On another account, I get the Nigerian scams.

On my Hotmail account, which I use for a specific purpose, and rarely get E Mail from anyone, I have never had any spam. It is funny, because from what I understand, Hotmail is notorious for the generation of spam.

Never, never respond to an E Mail, where you are not sure of the sender. I consider unsolcited E Mails simply another form of junk mail, and I get rid of it, w/o opening them.

You can report these sites to the companies they are misrepresenting. Go to the page of the real company and they will usually have a notice about these kind of things.
