Automatic www?

This is minor, but it's annoying. In my previous version of Windows, all I had to do when entering an address of a web site was type the name of the site, minus the www. It always went there.

A few days ago, I downloaded the latest version of Windows, I think 7.0, which works OK except that now I need the www or it tells me it's an invalid address. How do I set my preferences to always fill in the www? I probably did something back when I installed the previous version, but don't remember what it was.

Can anybody help?

Hmmm.......I have IE 7, and I am able to put in the name of the site w/o the www. What happens if you put in the name of the site, and then hit "control and enter"?

Thanks, Phoenix! I tried control and enter, and it worked. Previously, I had just hit enter (without the control), but that doesn't do it any more. Guess I'll get used to going to the control key.
