Thanks for that link to Linguist Online, ehBeth. There are a few things in that article which, while not exactly untrue, are misleading. Here's some good news. In my contract work with the US State Dept., I have met hundreds of Latvians visiting the USA at US government invitation over the past dozen years. I always assumed they would all be fluent in Russian (which I am not) since it was the official language of record from 1945 to 1991. Lo and behold, the younger generation -- those in their 20s and 30s -- are frequently quite innocent of Russian and have English as a second language instead. Nearly everyone either knows some English, is learning English or, at least, acknowledges that it is THE language to learn.

That fish only eats lil ol' pumpkin SEEDS right?
.....not full-grown pumpkins (or their contents)...right?
