I'm not so sure pride is exactly what I feel... more a kind of pleasure in the knowing.
As Bella Dea said, it's more fun being illogical on many facets of our life.
Pride is a human weakness that pervades most of our lives; it's natural. Enjoy it.

That reminds me of my friend's mother.
She never says she is proud of her children (pride is a vice, after all);
she says she is delighted with them.
Well, she can be "delighted" by her children. I take "pride" in ours for being good humans.
Nice post, Pantalones.
I am proud of many things I didn't do. Like accepting a huge bribe, snorting cocaine or voting for AMLO.
Pride is not a exact description of my feelings when a fellow Mexican excells in sports. I feel happy, some times exhilaratingly happy, but not precisely proud.
And yes, like you, I feel very proud about my parents' being able, through hard work, to give their children what they didn't have as kids.
