Please Help:
Explain how these lines give information about-
1) the character him/her self
2) the situation he is in.
3) the overall context of the play.
and then offer an explanation as to
4) how audiences in Elizabethan times might have responded.
5) how you, as a contempory auidence member, have responded.

Arragon's Speech

Arragon
And so have I addressed me. Fortune now
To my heart's hope! Gold, silver, and base lead.
"Who chooseth me must give and hazard all he hath."
You hall look fairer ere I give or hazard.
What says the golden chest? Ha, let me see!
"Who chooseth me shall gain what many men desire."
What many men desire - that "many" may be meant
By the fool multitude that choose by show,

Not learning more than the fond eye doth teach,
Which prides not to th' interior, but like the martlet
Builds on the weather on the outward wall,
Even in the force and road of casualty.
I will not choose what many men desire,
Because I will not jump with common spirits
And rank me with the barbarous multitudes.
Why then, to thee, thy silver treasure house!
Tell me once more what title thou dost bear.
"Who chooseth me shall get as much as he deserves."
And well said too, for who shall go about
To cozen fortune, and be honourable
Without the stamp of merit? Let none presume
To wear an undeservèd dignity.
O that estates, degrees and offices
Were not derived corruptly, and that clear honour
Were purchased by the merit of the wearer!
How many should cover that stand bare,
How many be commanded that command;
How much low pleasantry would then be gleaned
From the true seed of honour, and how much honour
Picked from the chaff and ruin of the times
To be new varnished. Well, but to my choice.
"Who chooseth me shall get as much as he deserves."
I will assume desert. Give me a key for this,
And instantly unlock my fortunes here.

This is very urgent so please reply soon

Re: Merchant of Venice
Just copy this, exactly, Mopsy, and you'll get an A.

Explain how these lines give information about-

1) the character him/her self

The lines clearly mention several metals. Silver, gold, and lead. This shows that Aragon is a metal merchant. Part of his body is metal too, as he has a golden chest. Then follows a lot of boring stuff which I ignored because I was 2 busy being k00l with my h0miez.

The lines show how Arragon

2) the situation he is in.

The lines show how Arragon the situation he is in is an ungrammatical sentence. He is in a bunch of trouble about treasure houses. He says "Who chooseth me shall get as much as he deserves." This means, "Don't f$ck wid me".

3) the overall context of the play.

The overall context of the play is that this guy called Anontion is unhappy. His 2 pals try to cheer him up. A jewish guy called ShyLock lends him some duckets. Antonioni hopes his ship will come in or he will lose his house to ShyLock's loan company. A lot of stuff happens and ShyLock wants a pound of flesh, but Antinitio is saved by three ships coming in. ShyLock has to pay mucho dinero to get out of jail.

and then offer an explanation as to

4) how audiences in Elizabethan times might have responded.

They would have clapped, rustled their theater programs, and maybe cheered a bit.

5) how you, as a contempory auidence member, have responded.

I have responded by saying "Shakespeare? Like, ewwwwwwww!!!!"

There is no character name Aragon in the Merchant of Venice....

You mean the Prince of Aragon.

Who's seen the movie version w/ Al Pacino?
Great job as Shylock.
