Some good things about Autumn

Okay, the summer is over [UK] but I'm determined not to get too depressed about it!

That's why I would like the help of other A2K members to think about the positive side of Autumn, like it's nearly Christmas (I love Christmas, though I don't know how many members will agree with me on that one Laughing ).

Okay, I'll start us off. The Autumn is great because there are no more wasps around, can somebody think of a better reason than this to be happy that the Autumn is here..?

No more months of 100+ degree heatwaves and skyrocketing A/C bills.

Still warm enough to not need to turn on the heat yet! No heating or cooling bills for a month!

No more need for guarding against mosquitos and West Nile virus.

Cloudy skies, longer shadows and beautiful sunsets.

New crops of sweet potatoes and winter squash hit the super markets.

It's the start of my down season. I don't work much from mid-November to the end of February.

Agreed about the sunsets bflynet. Good one.

Thankfully we don't have mosquitos in the UK; wasps are bad enough!

And Green Witch: not having to work is always a good reason for jubilation in my book!

Now that it's cooler weather, people who shouldn't wear shorts...don't!

Oh, Tai Chi, I so totally disagree with you on that one!

I think it's lovely that in the warmer weather the less than physically perfect feel able to show off themselves as much as the toned and tanned brigade!

Makes me feel okay about it myself!

I am one of "those" people Very Happy and while neither toned nor tanned have been known on deadly hot days to wear shorts, but I prefer jeans-and-a-bulky-sweater weather.

Yes, but you must admit it's nice to feel you don't have to cover yourself up in social embarrassment when it's too darned hot to wear anything more than shorts!

Sorry, Tai Chi, I wasn't having a go at you, it's just that I bet you can come in with a better reason than that for appreciating autumn!

sigh.... Rolling Eyes

Tai Chi is ALWAYS getting in the way of Chai Tea's posts.

It's just something she does, and I have learned to live with it.

Tai Tea
Chai Chi

as you can see, it's all very complicated. Cool

Yes, I've been waiting for Tai Chi to get back to us on this one, but it looks like she's gone to bed!

Anymore good things about Autumn?

There must be some...

Very Happy

Sorry, off making myself a cup of decaf chai tea before crawling under the duvet -- all nice and snuggly (even with the window open). Autumn has perfect sleeping weather.

It's a good point, Tai Chi.

How bad was it trying to sleep on those nights of just pure heat and no breeze?

Thankyou for that, you can go to bed now! I won't be up much longer, either!

Conkers, yeh!

I remember boys strutting round the playground at junior school saying things like "This is a seventeener!" as they pointed to a shiny conker dangling upon a piece of scraggy string. There were mysterious tales of these all conquering conkers being soaked in vinegar and suchlike, it all sounded hopelessly scientific to me.

Ah, the memories, but can anybody conquer conkers as a good point about Autumn?
