Extract from Refuge by Libby Gleeson

"You cannot know the felling of running for your life. Terrified. Students, teachers, workers. Men and women. Some who were just kids. Your age even, Andrew. It was the early hours of the morning, still dark. We ran in all directions, through the grounds and out onto the streets. Soldiers and police with sticks and guns were waiting, laying into anyone they could. I was hit over the head and thrown into the back of a truck. Arrested. It didn't stop then."
