The Ffloyds Comfortably Numb has been voted the greatest guitar riff of all time?

For me it has to be Led Zepplin's Whole Lotta Love.

What say you?

Smoke on the Water has to be about the most instantly recognisable, although my favourite has to be a toss up between....

Stay with me - Rod Stewart (full volume, of course)

and

Won't get fooled again - The Who (even fuller volume)

I was long enamored of Maggot Brain, by Funkadelic. Haven't heard it in decades, though.

Comfortably Numb? What the f*ck riff is in Comfortably Numb? When I think of Comfortably Numb, I think of pot, not guitar riffs.

"Jumpin' Jack Flash" though. Now THAT'S a riff that you can easily recall as soon as you hear the title. That's the ****.

When I was REALLY high yesterday, I ended up for some reason listening to Deep Purple full blast with "Sweet child in time", whilst the silent TV was showing George Bush...just as the song reached.....

"See the blind man shooting at the world
Bullets flying taking toll
If you been bad - Oh Lord I bet you have
And you've not been hit oh by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes aahouh bow your head
Wait for the ricochet............."

It had a deep meaning at that moment in time, a sort of revelation.

Buggered if it means much now in the cold light of day.

Just thought I'd share that with you, as that song has a great riff as well.

The Queen song is about the only one I agree with from the list, but it's always like that when they publish subjective lists like this that are really just sampled opinions [if they havn't just made it up in a magazine editor's office!]

Why not?

Rod and Faces were great before he went all commercial.

Agreed they were a great band. Seems a long time ago now, though, and he's done such alot of shite since...

I know more about The Faces, Long John, Julie Driscoll, than you do!

So don't cum over all whispering Bob Harris
