can you plz tell me what this means:
Sometimes I feel I am a small bird, a small bird that flies from one land to another and i am so far out to sea that I don't know if I am going to make it to land. I need to rest but there is no real place for me. If I stop for one moment, if my wings stop beating, if I give up hoping and searching for a way, I will drop down and die.
It is from chapter thirteen in the novel Refuge by Libby Gleeson.
And could you also tell me what you think the novel Refuge by Libby Gleeson has to do with refugees and asylum seekers coming to Australia to seek refuge.
What part of that very simple sentence is it that you don't understand?
It is quite simple, read the passage again and you will understand it.
Quote:Sometimes I feel I am a small bird, a small bird that flies from one land to another and i am so far out to sea that I don't know if I am going to make it to land. I need to rest but there is no real place for me. If I stop for one moment, if my wings stop beating, if I give up hoping and searching for a way, I will drop down and die.
The author feels like a small migrating bird flying over a seemingly endless ocean.
He is earthbound, but flying between two cultures.
Like the bird, he is exhausted in his journey but there is no place for him to rest. If he stops flying, he will drown in the metaphorical ocean.
