Dont eat at IHOP

As most of you know, IHOP really fuggered my account last week.

Hubby went to IHOP late at night with his friends, had a bowl of fruit, 2 sprites and a set of toast.

His total was 8.32 w/ tip.

This charge cleared our account at 11pm.
About an hour after he ate.

At 1 am, our account was hit for more then 9 thousand dollars.

FROM?

IHOP.

Ihop denies this. Completely .

Of course we do NOT have 9 thousand in our account so it is frozen and thrown into the hands of the theft dept. Rolling Eyes

Going back and forth to the bank, almost every day, one day twice~!
IHOP even told Bank of America on the SPEAKER phone.. this charge was not their fault as they don't have record of it..
yet, when you look directly at my account you can see IHOP right next to the nine thousand dollar charge.

Long story short, it is now 7 days later and only NOW do I have access to my bank account.

Bank of America had to actually credit almost 10,000 to my account to cover the bounced checks and the IHOP charge so it would actually post, so they could delete it.

I'm not sure what Ihop could have done to stop the charge when it is pending like that.. but they out right called my husband , my self, and my bank liars.

They cost me almost 100.00in late fees wich Bank of America picked up for us, either dismissed, or printed up 'official' letters for me to submit to my accounts whos payments bounced.

Tell me that is appropriate behavior for IHOP to deny a problem, tell me , my husband, and my bank that WE are wrong. That noone at IHOP made that charge.. and I will just stare at you like you are a fool. Laughing

I'm on a boycott IHOP bandwagon.

Because their employee made a mistake, that HAD to be obvious ... I mean
WHO
eats 9 grand worth of food THERE??

They would not own up, they would not cooperate with my bank, and called us liars.
We have had to borrow money from friends just so we could have gas.
Forget groceries.. or anything else.

BORROW.. why should I have to do that??

Evil or Very Mad

Does this mean the problem is solved, though?

Sure hope so!

I really like one waitress there, a good woman, as I'm sure many of their employees are... but not all, it seems.
Before this, I stopped going there because there hasn't been one dish I haven't thought was terrible in about five visits with friends.

Now that I hear your account of what seems like programmatic denial - of even a possibility of theft - from the management sector, I can see your strong point of view.

If it's any consolation to you, back in the 70s, my brothers and i would routinely rip off IHOP. We lived in an area with several of them, and about once a month, we would go to an IHOP and pig out. Then, one of my brothers and i would leave, leaving behind our other brother, who was a paraplegic confined to a wheel-chair. Not only would they not attempt to prosecute when he said he had been ditched and didn't have the money for the bill, but they'd usually call a cab for him, and sometimes even paid a fare to the address he specified (no, not our address--we weren't that stupid). We could usually pull it off twice or even three times at a single restaurant, so long as we didn't visit the same store for several months.

Of course, we didn't do them for $9,000 . . .

No IHOP charged them $9,000, which put them in the hole $3700.

See link below....

IHOP needs to die.

Shewolf, which IHOP was it?

The wolverine and I will go down there and order some food and really make a scene.

We have no morals or pride.

Nah.
This was the work of one person ( the theft)

But the work of a general and a district manager who are more then likely across the damn country.

It was one on .. 2222? I think?
Im not sure wich one Hubby went to.. I know it was considered in North austin.. but.. eh.. who knows.

IHOP has always had friendly service, so-so if not less then meals, but has been a good place to feed many at once and get out pretty cheap.

I wouldnt feel as bad as I do, had not 2 people from IHOP specifically said it was OUR fault, not I HOP's and insisted we were not telling the complete story. Confused

So.. tell me , Mister General Manager.. how many nine thousand dollar meals do YOU sell to a single person??

You sure your hubby didn't ask for a double order of blueberry pancakes with extra syrup? Coz' that could've done it.... Isn't that the $9000 Blue Plate Special?

Seriously, they should have been apologizing and offering you a year's worth of free breakfasts. But these days, pointing fingers is so much more popular than taking responsibility. Rolling Eyes

I thought it was the pigs in blankets plate?!
You know, if you add some powder sugar to your order, you can easily reach 6 thousand!!
Throw in tip...

Yeah, tell them to stop pointing at you and put their fingers back in their pancake batter where they usually are...

(MsOlga, it's an American chain of restaurants called International House of Pancakes)
