If you have the means, always watch your bank account.
At LEAST once a day.

Our account , last night, was hit for 9231.00

yeah

nine THOUSAND dollars.

Our account is now frozen, pending an investigation.

Hubby went out with his friends last night to IHOP.
Had some soda, and some fruit, with tip he charged 8.32.

That amount cleared our account at 11pm.

Well.. didnt CLEAR, but it hit the account and the funds were put on hold..

at 1 am, that same transaction came across at nine thousand dollars.

IHOP says it wasnt them. Rolling Eyes Bank of america does.

Bank of america also shows that there should not have BEEN a second transaction as all the important information was already sent with the first transaction.. and that is they the funds were put on hold.

Something is fishy.

Our account is frozen. completely.

We are -3778.00

No cash. Absolutly pennyless.

A theft investigation CAN take up to 30 days.

IF i had not noticed this charge when I did, we could have been held responsible for it.
Imagine that.. someone who can barely make ends meet, having to find close to 9 grand..

Today has really been fucked up .

Oof. I'm sorry this happened. Sounds like the IHOP server may have run the card twice, or something like that. Have you contacted the police?

Gawd. Something tells me your husband and his friends did not eat $9k worth of IHOP food. Hell, they probably don't have $9k's worth of food in the whole place.

Still, argh, it sucks.

He charged it, on a credit card or debit...
I am so hoping this doesn't take any 30 days.

Hopefully, it is just a miscalculation that can be accounted for and not theft at all.

I am so sorry to hear that, shewolf, and I keep my fingers crossed
that it was just a huge mistake from iHop.

Out of habit I check my online account every day, plus I only
pay with debit card, when I can make the transaction myself, like
at the grocery store or gas station. I never give my debit card out of my hands.

Regardless of the outcome, BofA is insured and your money will
be returned, at the longest in 30 days. After that, try to get a regular
credit card or pay cash only - both of you.

Isn't your account FDIC insured?

I have two checking accounts, that I check on each morning, by phone. I don't do banking on the internet and I use for everyday
purchases only one credit card, which I watch very closely.
