Thief With Panty On Head Robs Candy Shop

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. -- A popular candy shop was robbed overnight by a man wearing underwear on his head, KMBC's Bev Chapman reported Friday.

Surveillance video from Laura's Little Chocolates showed a man kick in the door, push a refrigerator out of the way and then wander in the dark to a cash register.

"He went around the counter and right for the register," shop owner Fred Prez said.

"Once he was in the store, it didn't take long to find the cash register and the chocolate," Prairie Village Police Capt. Wes Jordan said. "It looks like he's wearing a pair of underwear (on his head)."

"He was looking through one leg and the other was on top of his head. It was pretty comical," Prez said.

"I can tell you it's not something we see every day, but it was a cheap disguise and it worked," Jordan said.

After raiding the cash register, surveillance video showed the man take something else.

"On his way out, he took 8 pounds of fudge with him," Prez said.

He said the thief took two slabs of chocolate pecan, which is worth about $70.

Prez said he hopes police will catch the thief soon.

The thief was described as a white man, about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a T-shirt, jeans, work gloves and white underwear on his head.
