My country is America, and most Americans don't like his plays because they have never read or seen his plays, but I have read one, Waiting for Godot, and I liked it. I like many types of plays besides Beckett's. For example, I like tragedies, such as Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, and Hamlet, MacBeth, and Othello by Shakespeare.

Beckett's plays are not "popular" culture. They are usually performed by acting troups from colleges and universities rather than as commercial theatre ventures.

I'd guess that most Americans have never heard of Samuel Beckett, but this does not make his work less valuable.
