Problems with Internet explorer

When I try to access the forum at my local paper, (The Baltimore Sun) lately I am unable to view all of the links and emoticons using Internet Explorer. I downloaded Firefox and I can view everything. What happened to my Internet Explorer? Thanks for any help. I have been using IE and that forum for years with no trouble until recently!
