Knickers Nicker's Creepy Crimes Exposed: Woman catches out her neighbour with camera

A knicker thief who pinched panties off a young woman's washing line was nailed after his victim set up a camera to unmask him.

Creepy Robert Cameron stole more than 30 pairs of Lesley Colville's undies from her back garden over seven months.

Police told Lesley they couldn't help her if she didn't have any idea who was to blame.

So she borrowed a pal's camera, set it up at her bedroom window, and caught neighbour Cameron in the act.

Lesley, 22, said: "I stopped the recording and looked at the man's face. I felt sick.

"I immediately recognised him. He lived across the street from me and his windows overlooked my back garden.

"I'd seen him in the street but never spoken to him. I couldn't believe someone living so close to me had been stealing my underwear."

She added: "I'm very fond of expensive lacy and frilly panties and I've always taken pride in my collection.

"I'm happy to fork out more than most people for my underwear as I like to feel nice when I get dressed up.

"When my smalls started to vanish, I was stumped at first. But I contacted the police when I realised somebody was pinching them off the line.

"I was blushing when I had to describe my panties to the officers.

"They told me there wasn't much they could do unless I could give them a clue as to who I thought was doing it.

"Then a friend suggested setting up the camera."

It took three weeks of filming for Lesley to catch Cameron, 28. He pled guilty to theft last month and was fined £200.

Lesley, of Ardrossan, Ayrshire, said: "Cameron told the police he just did it as a joke, and threw my knickers away in people's gardens.

"I feel a bit embarrassed at the thought of my pants being strewn around the neighbourhood.

"I certainly hope Cameron has learned his lesson. And it hasn't stopped me hanging out my smalls to dry."

A police source said: "Cameron owned up as soon as he found out he had been caught on film. He seemed a bit embarrassed to find we had pictures of him."

Cameron was unavailable for comment last night.
