can someone please help answer these questions for me
What makes a novel successful??
How does a successful novel provoke "thoughts"
What does it mean to reflect?
thanks heaps
successful how?
by asking the question how a successful novel is thought provoking it seems you are implying that successful novel should be thought provoking.
but who says a novel must be thought provoking to be a success?
I would say that if even one person enjoys a novel it is a success.
It is an economic success I guess if it sell lots of copies.
it might be a great success if alot of people read it and start quoting it.
why is this a subject that you are asking help for?
are you doing a survey?
writing an essay?
or are you trying to write the ever elusive great american novel and you wanted someone to tell you how to write it?
thanks
i'm actually writting on speech, and was hoping to get some help

Successful Novel
Hi
If it's a novel I believe it should have a very exciting beginning, middle and end and must keep me intrigued and curious all the way through ..
The sort of novel that you can't put down till you finish it !! you have to stay up all night till you finish reading it !
for getting more ideas for your novel, you can share your ideas with your close friends, let them tell you how do they think about it.
another way that could help is reading novels and corresponding with the writers.
have a nice day...
I think a good novel requires a good plot, theme (sometimes it's a social commentary), and style of writing. I think it's good when the author use some form of rhythm somewhere in the novel. Authors tend to use other poetic devices as well.
Generally you want to catch the reader's attention, make the sentences clear, and have good/interesting characters.
If that fails, just add romance, and your novel will probably sell.
