Depositing money in a bank is a very accepted practice in the west.

People in the U.S. trust banks with their money because, among other things, the federal governmemt in most cases insures you (up to $100,000) that you will not lose your money if the bank fails). Also, banks pay interest to you on the money they hold for you.

I bury my money out in the backyard in an old tin can. Over under the pine tree. No, the taller one on the right.
