I know bagpipe is popular and soudly in Scotland. Could you give some
introducement,please?
Bagpipes are an ancient musical instrument, and were used by the Egyptians, the Greeks and Romans long before the idea of Scotland even existed.
Click here to read a history of the bagpipes.
At different times in both Ireland and later Scotland they were outlawed by the English as instruments of war.
Because they were used for assembling the clans - not for the devestating sound they used. Any clever Irishman can tell you that all you need to do for a replacement is cradle a cat in the crook of your left arme. One leg serves as chanter, the other three are the drones. The tail functions as the blow pipe, and the body of the cat works just like a real windbag. Just pump the wind bag with your left elbow, bite down on the tail, and it will sound remarkably like a real bagpipe.
In 99' during the funeral ceremony for pro golfer Payne Stewart, there was a lone piper playing in the early morning fog. When he began to play he was totally obscured by the fog, then he slowly materialized as he walked toward the crowd.
It was eerie and beautiful at the same time....that was one of the most powerful things I have ever seen on television.
