I have made it a point to watch the Nathans 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest for the last 2 years, and I'm sure not going to miss this one.....
Takeru Kobyashi, from Japan, has won the last 4 years in a row, last year, he devoured 49 hot dogs in 12 minutes.... he weighs in at 144 pounds. Can't wait to see what he does this year.
his method of eating is to eat 2 hotdogs at a time, buns separately, washed down with his beverage.
Sonya Thomas, born in Korea, is my personal favorite. This 105 lb. cutie came in 2nd place with 37 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Her specialty is cheesecake, ELEVEN POUNDS in NINE MINUTES....Go Sonya!
She is incredibly focused, and will give Kobyashi (the Tsunami) a run for his money.
Joey Chestnut, came in third place last year with 32 dogs and buns.
I honestly don't know anything about him.
Competitive eating doesn't seem to relate to the persons size, real big obese guys are left in the dust by the 2 favorites over and over.
Whew! You got me looking forward to this now....
