dream man lyrics
I sing this to my daugher, from the memory of what my Mum sang to me, so not sure how accurate or how fully I have remembered it but....

The Dream Man's coming on his train of cars
With Moonbeam windows and with wheels of stars
So hush you little ones and have no fear
The man in the moon is the engineer
Hush, here comes the dream man
He'll sprinkle your eyes with stars
And you'll soon be asleep for the whole night through
On the Dream Man's Train.

Dream Man lyrics
My grandmother used to sing this to me. I always thought it was an Irish lullaby. Do you know the origin of this song. I've never heard it anywhere else, and I am so happy to find someone else who knows it.

@soupysmom,
I remember the following, sung to me by my mother in the 1940s

The Dream Man's coming with his train of cars
With moonbeam windows and wheels of stars
So kiss your Mummies and kiss your Pas
And "All aboard" you little ones.
The railroad track it is a moonbeam bright
Leading up into the starry night

But I can't remember the last bit

First verse:
"The Dream man's coming on a train of cars
With moonbeam windows and with wheels of stars
A cord of seaweed rings the engine bell
It's made with a winke and an oyster shell
Hush here comes the dream man,
hush, here comes the dream man
Now you children run up the stairs
Put on your nighties and say your prayers
Ride with mr dream man, till daylight comes again
And see all the wonders of wonderland
On the dream man's train"

Unfortunately I have lost the second verse

I sang this to my children and grandchildren.

The dream man is coming with his train of cars
With moonbeam windows and with wheels of stars
So come all you little ones and have no fear
The man in the moon is the engineer.
Hush ! Here comes the dream man.
Hush ! Here comes the dream man.
All you children run up the stairs
Put on your nighties and say your prayers.
Come ride with the dream man
Til morning comes again
And see all the wonders of wonderland
On the dream man's train.

I've been searching for the full version of this for ages. My Granny used to sing it to me when I was little, but is no longer around to validate her version. Our (abridged) version is as follows - I don't think I could change this now if I wanted to as my two boys love this.

The dream man's coming on his train of stars
With moonbeam windows and a stream of stars
So kiss your mummy, and kiss your daddy
and all aboard to dreamy land
Hush, here comes the dream man
Hush, here comes the dream man
The dream man's on his way
To show you the wonders of dreamy land
On the dream man's train

@LeilaJoy,
Probably way too late but here goes what I can remember from my Mom singing it to me maybe 75 years ago--her family was from England:
The dream man's coming on a train of cars, with moonbeam windows and with wheels of stars, so kiss your mama and kiss your pa, and all aboard the dream man's train. Ridw, with Mr. dream man, till daylight comes again, and see all the wonders of wonderland on the dream man's train. connie [email protected].

@LeilaJoy,
Here's what I remember (my mum sang it to me when I was a little girl and I've been looking for the parts I can't remember since she died 25 years ago)..."The dream man's coming with his train of cars, With moonbeam windows and with wheels of stars, So hush you little ones run up the stairs, Put on your jammies and say your prayers, Ride with Mr. Dream man 'till daylight comes again, And see all the wonders of wonderland on the Dream man's train".........I know there's more so if you find the whole song will you please forward it to me? My email address is [email protected]. Hope this helps....good luck with the rest.
