By installing malware, criminals can used your gambling account to make a profit or loss at your expense.

Yes. This is not news. Anyone with a nasty agenda can try to install malware on your computer to steal from you. It need not be gambling sites -- it can also be legit-looking businesses. However, gambling sites may be targeted because (a) addicted users would log in several times, not necessarily with a lot of precautions, (b) lots of money transactions, (c) users might be ashamed of what they're doing and trying to hide it from a spouse, therefore there is only 1 pair of eyes looking for fraud and/or (d) the users might be ashamed of going to the sites and therefore might be less likely to bring in a professional to help investigate.
