Interesting that you would refer to it as a toy, though...

It's an adult toy. I take my toys very seriously.

MG, I shoot clays whenever I get up to my cabin. We just use a handheld launcher and shoot out over the riverbank. Scares the canoeists half to death. Laughing Because of the pressure on the water from fisherman, hunters, and pleasure seekers during the warmer months, we always fire a warning shot straight down into the swamp before we start shooting.

I've seen hunters in full camo suddenly start moving pretty quickly when they realize what is going on. You'd never know they were there.

Then I vow to always wear luminous pink clothing.

Whats the gun for, are you part of a gun club type thing?

Handguns really only have one purpose. Personal protection.

I get myself into some pretty remote situations when I hunt/fish, and have run into some really strange people out there. For example, why is some guy in a suit and dress shoes walking under my tree stand at least a mile from any road?

My cabin is also quite isolated.

Fair enough but its not a toy and theres really no need to have it if the 'strange person' doesnt have anything similar.

What is your angle? First you talk about wanting to shoot clays, now you're telling me I shouldn't have a gun. ???

How would you know if the weird person in the woods has a gun (or two), or not? That guy I mentioned was trespassing on private property, at least a mile from the road access. What was he doing? I'll never know, he turned and ran when I yelled at him. All I had was my bow.

Fortunate for you that he only had his bow.

How is that arrow wound healing?

Trespassing and not vocalizing or displaying your intentions is pretty dangerous business. I've run into a lot of really nice people in the woods, and a few not so nice ones.

In cj's defense, many hunters carry a pistol as a sidearm, a backup weapon in case whatever they shoot doesn't die and they don't have time to reload. If your rifle or bow gets knocked out of your hands by an animal you've shot attacking you, you still have a second weapon to use that's a lot more effective than a knife.
I have an uncle who's life was saved by his sidearm when a bear he shot with his bow came at him. Instead of trying to fit and fire another arrow, he and his hunting buddy pulled their sidearms and dropped the bear (VERY large handguns, if you are wondering).

It was perhaps a bad choice of a word. I never play with guns, I treat them with ultimate respect.

Do you still have them?
