Yesterday at work, we got a group of 18 people together to bet on the Preakness. Since there are only 9 horses running, two people have to share a horse. We drew the horses names out of a bowl.

I (and a male co-worker) got......Brother Derek! Yippee! He's one of the favorites!

So please, everybody, send out your best wishes, prayers, vibes and thoughts to Brother Derek!

If that horsie wins, I'm going to make some nice coin! Even though I have to split it with the other guy, I'll still make a nice tidy little profit.

I read that Barbaro hasn't had a chance to get much rest since the Derby. I'll bet he's going to poop out!

Ohhhh! I think Brother Derek's going to win! I feel it!

Brother Derek's a pretty horse too. He's got it all -- looks and speed!

So, I'm watching the Preakness now.

That horse is so strong, proud and handsome. He's going to look great in the winner's circle when they put the wreath of black-eyed susans on him.

I'll bet they knew the day he was born that he was special. They must've said, "What a thoroughbred! What a thoroughly awesome thoroughbred! He was meant to be in the winner's circle...probably at the Preakness!"

Yep! I'll bet that's what they said.

That stupid horse.....that dumb nag.....you might as well hitch him up to a plow! What a loser! And that jockey? What an incompetent dumbass!

I guess you can tell Brother Derek lost!

But that's ok. He still gave me something I need....an excuse to have a drink!!

Oh! But something else happened! There was a great horse in this race -- Barbaro! He got injured coming out of the gate! His hind foot was hurt, and they had to pull him out of the race! Poor thing!

No one's sure, Amigo. He actually broke out of the gate before the race started! They had to put him back in the gate again. But his jockey said he seemed to be ok, in spite of that.

Then, right after the race started, the jockey had to pull him off the field. One of his hind legs was hurt, they're not sure how he did it. Apparently, it's a serious injury.

Man, that's sad. I hope he's going to be ok.... Sad
