Anyone listen to either yet? I'm waiting for Pearl Jam to come in the mail, and I've nothing but great things about it. Just picked up the new Tool today, haven't listened to it yet.
On a side note: I can't stand people that say "Pearl Jam hasn't done anything good since Vs." While "Ten" was an amazing album, I think the rest of their stuff since Vs. has been pretty underrated. Maybe because they don't cater to the mainstream via videos and releasing singles?
New Tool is dissapointing (can you tell I like them *hint* avatar *hint*). It has some good songs but is WAY too reminiscent of past albums which is not a trait i like to associate with Tool.
I don't like Pearl Jam.
That said, the new Chili Pepper album leaked (omg illegal I know) and it's really good. I prefer it to the Tool album.
That also said, I'm not a big fan of popular rock and music and so I think the best album released today (May 2nd) is actually Ruun by Enslaved (a progressive metal band kind of like Opeth) which is seriously a ******* kickass album (at least I think it's released today; I got an advance copy)
I want to check out the album coming out by Jack White's new band...I forget the name though.
I've heard the Tool album is really good, but it takes a few listens. I've found that to be true with all their cd's. Takes a while for them to grow on me, then I love it. Not all their songs are "catchy."
Aenima was a classic from the first listen as was Lateralus.
I've listened to 10k days about 10x and it hasn't really hit it; moreover I actually have grown to dislike it more. Rosetta Stoned and Right In Two kick extreme ass though.
The one single I have heard from the new Tool album did sound a lot like their last album, butÂ… I have never been disappointed and will be picking it up next chance I get. Thanks for reminding me! The others I haven't heard at all yet.
There's a lot of slow tracks that I'll just skip over. But from my first listen, I like the "real" songs so far.
Thanks! I heard it on the radio and of course forgot.
I'm going to see Pearl Jam in about a month. Can't wait. Haven't seen them since their second album. Gotta get that new CD tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder.
By the way...check
this out.
I'm buying tickets right now.
Man I love filthy whores.
I'm going to see Pearl Jam also. Tool sold out in 1/2 a second, and scalped tickets are going for retarded money.
Still waiting for my Pearl Jam cd from fuggin Amazon.
i must admit, i never got tool
liked most pearl jam, very much a greatest hits cd band for me, and i would like to pick up their b sides/rarities compilation
The Raconteurs album is really good, a lot of diverse influences can be heard all interpreted very originally by the band. Jack White's guitar playing and singing are as good as always, and he's really expanded his sound with this project.

I thought it wasn't out for another couple weeks?
So does anyone have the new Pearl Jam?
Yea the show at the Fox Theater sold out in less than three minutes here (Tool). I don't even want to know what people are scalping the tickets for.
Bought the new album yesterday and it F'n rocks!! I might be easy to please with the genre & being an amateur musician - thinking about writing stuff like this but... I just love how complex this stuff really is and how simple they flow with it. The time signatures are not typical in the slightest and I know they can do it live. The stereoscopic stuff in the album design is kind of cool too.
Interested to hear what you guys think of the new Pearl Jam, I have heard it is pretty good but don't know anyone who has a copy yet.
No, haven't heard either, and haven't been keeping up. Now I'm eager to get these albums. Thank ya Slappy!
PJ put out a lot of good albums IMO. I didn't even know they were still together. Thought they would have gone their independent ways by now. But this is cool.
BTW: does anyone have any friggin' clue what Mr.Veder's gfs band is called? I heard it on the radio not terribly long ago...and they simply went off on a riff about her connection to Eddie. So I didn't catch the name of the Band. It was interesting, and I'd like to check it out.
thx

I jacked it . . . er . . . I downloaded it through Soulseek to sample it, and removed it from my hard drive within twenty-four hours thereafter.
I just got both the new Pearl Jam and the new Tool CDs. I am only about halfway through the Tool CD, but so far I am liking it a lot. The Pearl Jam CD is really good. The song, Gone is probably my favorite right now. I think the last half of that CD is better than the first, but it's all damn good.
Oh, and there are glasses built into the packaging on the Tool CD for you to use to look at the freaky 3-D artwork. Cool.
I like the Tool cd...but I counted: 5 songs, not including the stupid filler tracks.
C'mon, no album in years, and FIVE tracks? They're good, but c'mon.
Listened to PJ twice, starting to really like it. I think it's track #12 I dig, it's a slower song.
