Musicians and Bad Management

Hey, I have a mini assignment and its about musicians and bad management. All I have to do is find a musician who received bad management, detail what happened, and how the musician could've protected themselves.

As much as I've tried, I cannot find anyone to do it on (maybe it's my bad googling skills) Anyway, all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Here's an entire band who had the misfortune to have poor management:

Look up Billy Joel in the 1970s. He made about $7000 dollars out of the Piano Man album because of his manager... (it sold millions)

Fairly sure the Bay City Rollers were completely exploited by their manager too....

Thanks, you guys are legends! If there are any more (bands or solo artists) that anyone can think of, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks again!

Tina Turner claimed Ike ripped her off, and beat her etc, didn't she?

I'll second that!
A remarkable achievement, really, to turn the young, smouldering, subversive Heartbreak Hotel Elvis into that utterly boring, homogenized Blue Hawaii Elvis! Then the Los Vegas, show biz Elvis! Ugh! Shocked

Is it true that Elvis never toured outside the US because Col Tom Parker was a dutch illegal immigrant?

Yes Parker was an illegal alien. Some say this is the reason why Elvis never toured outside the US...or at least North America.

I don't care much for any "Elvis" movie, but Parker had it in his contract that he got paid just as much as Elvis, plus a small token amount for some reason...some kind of special producer or something...so he ended up making more than Elvis on each film.

Unbelievable character. Don King's got nothing on him.
