@ehBeth,
A canadian being rude?!
I suppose there are some, but none I've met.
Mostly, this post is a bookmark so I can keep following this.

@ehBeth,
RIP Richard Wagamese.

Richard died about two weeks ago. There was a brief moment of respect for him yesterday.

___

Chantal (singer) and Candy (former lawyer, comedian) are continuing to be assholes.

Humble the Poet is fantastic as a debater.

Measha BrueggerGosman is not as strong as I thought she'd be.

Jody Mitic's book was voted off today - partly, I think, because of Chantal and Candy taking against (only white person on the panel) - he is a great guy, good debater and has handled their assholery beautifully

I was once a fan of Candy Palmeter. Today's debate really was the end.

The host, Ali Hassan, is ok, but seems to be over his head. He's certainly no Wab Kinew.

oh Tamara Taylor had a filming conflict so opera star, Measha BrueggerGosman took over with about two weeks notice. She's lovely in so many ways.

@ehBeth,
Day three - intense again.

The Right to be Cold was voted off.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/books-and-media/book-reviews/the-right-to-be-cold-a-courageous-and-revelatory-memoir/article23449642/

Weird dynamics between Chantal, Candy and Jody.

I think everyone agrees it's an important book. The timing re 45's recent EO make it even more so. Chantál's poor debating technique lost this.

I'd be amazed if Fifteen Dogs doesn't win, but whatever book Humble the Poet championed would have won (in my estimation). He really gets the debate process. Better than the lawyer for sure. This is the third time I've gone to debates where lawyers have flubbed royally. I'm wondering why.

Ali was much better after that first year. Now I really dig him as the host but Wab Kinew remains my favourite

@ehBeth,
Last year was good, this year was magnificent. Great books, fine debaters and Ali did a good job moderating.

This was so true. A bunch of debaters in 2020 banged up on another and knocked the best book out right away. The defender never knew what happened.
