Here's a link to an interesting story that I just read about on a blog. It's about an incident that occured back in 2001 in India. There was red rain for some time in the state of Kerala.
This was the first I've ever heard of it. Perhaps for you, too.
It seems remarkable that something that may have such profound implications and is being written up in many scientific journals has gotten so little press from the mainstream media. (By the way, that was my blog. Don't tell anyone, ok?)
