I thought you were joking about your lifestyle. C'est la vie.

Lifestyle? I live my life better than you could ever dream to live yours. All the resentment must eat at your heart. It's a wonder you have any left.

Illegal immigration is a huge problem for America, one that we will be dealing with long after Iraq and Afghanistan. You can choose to ignore it (and me), but at your own peril.

cj - when, exactly, did immigration become a problem?

Well, from south of the border, the trickle became a stream under GHWB. The stream flowed unimpeded under BC, and became a full on flood under GWB.

I left California last year because I couldn't afford to purchase a home in a more affluent neighborhood. Ours was going downhill fast. Gangs were roaming day and night, and we had things stolen out of our yard repeatedly. I've said it before here and gotten called a bunch of names, but the gang bangers where I lived tended to ride bikes. They also liked to hide their drugs on other people's private property. On more than one occasion I witnessed a mexican gang member on a bike going through a woodpile or other outdoor storage on private property that wasn't their own.

What are you supposed to tell your kids or your guests? "Just ignore that guy over there, he's just looking for his lost bike pump".

Fuckacrap.

omg, a 'gang member' trespassing private property???? good god! i suppose they wear their gang member uniforms so that you're able to tell them apart. no other teenagers do that, for sure. despicable!!!

sorry, but now i'm just laughing.

There's plenty of crime in america, cj, but it's not like what you're seeing everywhere. I don't see latino crime here. I haven't seen evidence of latinos commiting crimes in higher rates in the news I read. California must harbor many more immigrants than MA, but there are immigrants all over who aren't posing problems like you mention.

I guess you'd have to see it to believe it then. They use other peoples private property to hide their drug and weapons caches. I'm not making this up - please. Many of our friends in the Bay Area are quite liberal, and they would back me up on this - as it was in their own yard. This isn't a left vs. right issue.

And you'd be right. At least for a little while.

...and that has absolutely nothing to do with nationality. claiming that ALL mexicans are like this and a threat is just pure chauvinist and xenophobic.

America has dealt with many many waves of immigrants for hundreds of years. It's not always been smooth, but it has always worked out in the end.

Funny, I worried about mexican and latino immigration because I thought they were going to be voting conservative/religionist. It's all about unfounded fear, don't you see?

Oh, and by the way, if you happen to find their little stash when you go to do some yardwork, and remove it, either for your own pleasure or to turn it in to the cops, you better watch out. They know where you live.

Hopefully CBS is a trusted enough liberal mainstream source.
