Old Tat - Want to Update but Am Unsure....

I got my first tattoo when I was 19. I was young. I was stupid. I got a cartoon worm.

At the time, it seemed cute and a good idea. Now, although it symbolizes my first real crack at independence (my parents forbade tattoos) I think it's sort of old news. I'd like to update it. It needs to be retouched since it's been nearly 10 years since I got it. People have told me to cover it up but then it would be way bigger than I'd want it. So covering it isn't really an option. It's on my ankle.

I've made a (very) rough picture of what it looks like now. I know there is a picture of it here somewhere on A2K but I have no clue where...so here is my drawing.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/khuren/bill.jpg

In my mind, I see him with wings. Sort of the whole, being transformed thing. Not really a butterfly (because I am not finished yet!) but sort of a halfsy worm-butterfly thing. Make sense?

What do you think? Can someone with some actual skill add wings to this thing I've created here so I can see what he may look like and if it's a totally stupid idea that only looks good in my mind? Or better yet, if you know where that picture is, you can see what it really looks like and maybe help me from that.

Redone tats rarely look very good. It can be done but most often it has very average results. If your not happy with it may I offer another suggestion?

One, I think it hurts like hell. Two, I think it's expensive. And three, my tat is green and unless things have come a long way, I understand green is exteremly hard to remove and may never be completely gone. All I need is a yellow/green shadow of a worm.

But, I have a laser center right by me so I might check it out.

Add wings, tail, and a plume of smoke in the front, and you might have an interesting dragon

You could surround your little beast with a choice of butterfly wings of various patterns.

Ha! I REALLY need to get a translation book.

I thought that this was a house clearance thread, as "old tat" over here, means bits of old junk.

How's about doing a thought bubble, going from the catepillars head. The bubble could have a wonderful new butterfly in it.

Or a big gardener's boot just above it, and the caterpillar saying "SH*T!"

I could probably help you out with a little artwork, Bella~
I'm not too shabby and I understand what is required to create tattoo artwork (so it will come out sharp and distinct.)

Let me know if you're interested~I'm not interested in being paid in any material way~and I can show you some examples of stuff I've done if you want.

Thanks Annie! Bill (my tat) is currently 1 in x 1 1/2 in. I don't want it any bigger, and that's the problem.

<AHEM>......

A photo would be helpful, plus a full body shot, just so we can work out the proportions.

I hear ya. I'm assuming that the less ink it takes, the better, too, right?

I'll see what I can do and I'll be back! Probably tomorrow I'll have something to show you.
