Martin D12-35
Purchased new from McMillan Music, San Angelo, TX May 1968.
Dragged around the country, re-fretted twice and new-necked once, it now sits lonlier than then one in the Kenny Rodgers tune, waiting for me to bang around on her curves.

Fender didn't produce Jazzmasters in the 40's. 60's, yes...40's, not so much.

I bought it in a junk shop for $25 in the 70s. 40s was just a guess based on its condition and serial number. The serial number is 77500.

That's a great find...It's prolly worth a few grand by now. I don't have my book handy but I'd guess it's mid sixties.

The Jazzmaster was introduced by Fender in 1958. What follows is an inside view of a late 1958/early 1959 Fender Jazzmaster.

The most notible thing about 1958 to the summer of 1959 Jazzmasters is the metal anodized pickguard. The pickguard is amazingly thick, at about .100 of an inch. This guard provides good looks, and sheilding to boot. Unfortunately starting in the summer of 1959, Fender changed to a white/black/white/tortoise celluloid pickguard (except on certain custom color Jazzmasters, which had a white/black/white celluloid pickguard instead). I'm not sure why they made this change. The celluloid pickguards did wear better though. As you can see in the pictures below, there is a large wear spot in the middle of the metal pickguard.

What a great find!

Top Row, left to right :

Nagoya 12 string acoustic, Univox Ripper (only 223 released in US, 70s guitar, great humbuckers), Ibanez 80's RG I believe, Fender Acoustic.

Bottom Row, left to right:

Fender Birdseye Stratocaster, Dean Bass, Johnson Banjo

Behind the bass is my favorite Fender Deluxe tube amp. My favorite guitar is the birdseye strat, don't know too much about my bass, but it does the job through 2x10 Hartke w/ a Kustom 60W head.

Yeah that's the deluxe that I was talking about, the one to the right of the banjo is a small practice amp (currently used to run the keyboard through), the amp on the far left is a Vox 100 watt valvetronix amp.

My husband has a 1956 Martin Guitar. He said it's worth about $15,000. I'm mad at him right now. Anybody want to buy it? Laughing
