Oh gees, I'm very glad you're son's ok Montana, I can only imagine what a fright it was for you.

Kinda hard to find something meaningful to say when things like these happen, so I'll just say I hope everything goes well for you both from then on. Smile

Glad to hear the kiddo is OK.

He's gonna remember how that felt for a very long time.
All of sudden, you have no control. The car's going where
it will and you're just along for the ride. It seems to take
forever for the scene to play itself out. Luckily, it ended
with the crunch of metal and nothing worse.

If there is a bright side to the situation, it must be that having experienced the accident and walked away, your son will be less likely to have another one. A lesson learned the hard way perhaps, but learned well I imagine....

Have a stiff one on me!

I've never been in an accident and I really hope I'm never in one. I really like bikes. Any kind of accident on a bike can have really ugly consequences.

Ok, I don't have a bike *yet* but I'll have one someday.

Its bumping the thread a bit, but watch those bikes, Eryemil.... I've fallen off more bikes than I care to remember in my time, and it is best not to as it bloody well hurts!

If you are serious about getting a bike, I'd recommend buying a big, old, cheap, slow, evil-handling old beast and making your mistakes on that. After a year or so of tarmac-tasting and impromptu motocross you will be relatively safe on any modern bike....

Its alright mate...

I worked as a bike instructor for a few years, and suggesting people do just that may have saved a few lives... The number of people who jump straight onto modern, fast bikes and go straight on at a bend used to horrify me. Far better to learn about the effects of speed and how to take a corner on something slow...

Thanks George :-)

Yes, he was telling me exactly how he felt as he lost total contol of the car and how everything seemed as if it was going in slow motion.
I remember only one time in my life where I couldn't come out of a slide like that and I forgot all about it until he described how he felt.
When it happened to me, at least I was just coming out of my driveway on a dead end street and the car that hit me in the rear of the car was going so slow that it wasn't that big of a deal, but I remember how scared I was when I couldn't stop, so I can only imagine the fear going through him as he was headed towards the ditch Shocked
Somehow I don't think he'll be doing that again either. I'm going to talk him into getting good snow tires with studds next winter as I don't ever want this to happen again for the rest of my life.
He's talking about buying a 4 wheel drive truck and I am all for that :-)

Then when I need a truck to haul something big, we'll have a truck :-D

Anyway, my little man is safe, his car is in the shop being fixed and all is well :-)

Phew!

Was your son drunk at the time of the mishap, Montana?

I don't recall if anyone has asked that particular question.
