Well I've just always been curious, what does the "(slight return)" part signify or mean? I've never been able to quite figure it out.
Anyone who wants to talk about voodoo child or anything pertaining to it, don't hesitate to post on this thread.
nevermine-Thought you were talkin about a country
I think it's mostly a title derived from the drug-addled brain of Hendrix. He revisits a melody line, or something (it's been years since I listened to Electric Ladyland).
On the album Electric Ladyland there are two songs titled "Voodoo Chile"....the first one is a slow blues tune, then at the end of the album, there is the more commonly known Voodoo Chile {slight return}.
I've read several different arguments as to why they have a similar name, but the one that makes the most sense to me is this one.
Jimi and they guys were jamming in the studio, and he was toying around with the original "Voodoo Chile" theme...and he stepped it up quite a bit to the wah-wah infused distortion driven song that it became. A loosely based version of a previous theme....hence, slight return.

Makes good enough sense to me, thanks
