Owing to the amount of rain that we have had over the past 24 hours, I will no doubt be on "flood prevention duty" on the appointed day.
My area of responsibility is to make sure that the water doesn't escape, so no doubt I will spend all day with my finger in a dyke.

I did that once, nearly lost my finger. ( I did lose a nice ring)
I never realized what a chore it is to be nice. I tried it for half an hour and I was itching to smack someone.

-sang 'happy birthday' to a pool-buddy who turned 83 today , he is called 'smilin' jack' (ehbeth's former highschool principal),
-will visit my old buddy walter who had a terrible stroke more than a year ago and is now in a seniors' home ; he was an avid gardener , so i'll take him a little flower-pot than he can look after in his room ,
-annie(neighbour's dog) called through the fence , so i brought her some tasty dog-treats - she thanked me my thumping the fence with her tail.
i'll see if i can lead an old lady across the street - even if she doesn't want to go .
