Criminal sues for his shirt
A CRIMINAL is suing the Scottish Executive over the loss of a Burberry shirt which he claims went missing while he was in prison.
Joseph Hughes had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car he crashed while being chased at high speed by the police.
His clothes were cut off to get him out - and he claims he was bought a new wardrobe by his wealthy former girlfriend.
Hughes, 41, from Dundee, is claiming that his new clothes - including a Burberry shirt worth £50 ($87 USD), Armani t-shirts worth £70 ($122 USD) each, and an £89 ($156 USD) pair of Moschino jeans - went missing while he was on remand in Perth Prison.
He is seeking a total of £349 ($612 USD) compensation at Perth Sheriff Court and said: "I didn't think at any point my clothes would go missing."
Further evidence will be heard later this month.
