What does one take to potluck in OZ?

We don't seem to do "potluck" in Oz - or not in my circle. That's why Olga was unfamiliar with the term.

Australians are more likely to bring booze - I usually bring a good bottle of Oz bubbles - or perhaps a red - what's your preference?

Although, if you eat at my place, potluck's what you get - and don't bother asking for the recipe - I probably wasn't sober when I made it - and haven't got a clue what's in it!

I've eaten kangaroo several times. It needs to be cooked carefully. Too long - and it's as tough as old boots. The most memorable time was at a restaurant beside Darling Harbour in Sydney, a sunny mid-winter lunch. Winter here is fairly mild, and this was a magic day. We sat there, watching the passing people and marine parade, chewing our roo, and washing him down with a glass of red (or several!). That skippy didn't die in vain!

Oh - and have a bloody happy birthday! : Razz Laughing

HAPPY 70TH SEAGLASS!

My specialty is chocolate chip cookies. Will that work for your potluck supper?

St. Pauli Girls non-alcholic beer is me choice of
beverages. The real stuff lands me in the loo hugging the be-day. No big deal, I'm a great designated driver. I carry a tape recorder and play it back to my friends the next day (just kidding) (maybe).

Chewing our roo. i like that.

cheers, sglass

Oh Mac the seaglass is just beautiful. I go out every morning when I am in Hilo and walk the beach at day break and pick seaglass. I plan to use them making some beach trash art.

And just remember we are not getting older, just better.

Oh and good luck with your vowel movements.

Happy Birthday, Seaglass!

My, my, you certainly had me fooled! I've never met you except here on A2K, but for some reason I had you pegged as being in your mid-40s. (I am 51, btw.)

That means one of the following must be true.

1. I haven't been paying attention. (It's possible.)
2. I am so old myself that I assume everyone else must be younger than me. (I'm not gonna admit that!) OR
3. You look much younger in print.

I'm going with #3.

Oh, and here's my contribution for the potluck...ENJOY!

my dear eva,

the only person on A2K that has ever seen me in the flesh is Lightwizard.

I'll give you a hint, Merry Andrew and I had dinner with Lightwizard in Long Beach a couple of years ago.

I was wearing tight blue jeans (size 14 Ralph Lauren) a form fitting black net top with thin straps. My cowboy boots from highschool and a pink straw cowboy hat. My hair looks I ripped it off a money cat (the colors) which hangs about the middle of my back when I let it down. I have a face that looks like the full moon rising over Belfast.
When pressured I wear a little eyegoo and pale lipstick.

When home in Paradise I run two miles every morning and swim for an hour in the afternoon. I snorkle every chance i get.

I play scrabble at Borders's Book Store in Hilo every Tuesday night with folks who compete in tournaments in the "Old Country"but i am not tournament material.

Age is relative and I don't really give it much thought. Don't think old, don't feel old so i don't act old. It's a matter of choice.

Oh, and I don't drink. It's bad for the complextion.

Happy Belated! You don't drink, so my day-after hangover cure isn't much use.

Have a lovely first-full-day-of-being-seventy! I hope the sun is shining on you today.

Thanks Wy,

I'm cleaning up the mess, trying to figure out where the dust mop is.

Love to have your morning after recipe. I have friends that could likely benefit.

Bappy Hirthday, Boss . . .

When you were born, Franklin Roosevelt was running for his second term in office, Edward VIII was King of England (although he would abdicate by the end of the year), Stanley Baldwin was the Prime Minister of England, the National Socialists had captured the Reighstag, and Hitler was the Chancellor of Germany as a Result, Josef Dugashvilli (aka Stalin) was the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the militarist Okada Keisuke was Japanese Prime Minister to Emperor Hirohito . . . i don't know, Boss, you keep some pretty dodgy company . . .

SEAGLASS IS 70 TODAY
Happy Birthday, seaglass!

I hope you have at least 70 more great years! Remember, these are the "good old days", not yet past.

Why not do something daring, like jumping out of an airplane? Or climbing a mountain? Or if those things aren't possible, I'm sure you can think of something to do! Life is so boring and lonely when you don't go beyond your comfort zone and risk a little.

Here is a Sanskrit proverb for you, that means a lot to me:

Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The glory of power -

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.
