Can I get over 2 wives in India?

Has India set up such a policy that allow man marry over two wives?

Your're married to the wrong woman MichaelS.

Raymond, some Muslim countries allow for more than one wife, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait come to mind. I don't know why you would want more than one - I don't nag, but I sure can tire my man out.

Indian law does not enable Indian citizens, of any religion, to marry two wives.

You need to divorce your first wife if you wish to marry the second one.

but in some poor places like Thailand, it's allowed to marry more than 1 wife, the more wives u marry, the more money u can get.And it represents that u are rich!

indian muslims often have more than one wive, as many as 3. they also have their own arab laws and can divorce the wife with a "talak talak talak" salvo.

Few minor Communities in Maharashtras who live in jungles and wild called Nagar can have women with 2 husbands too. They have woman centric societies. Surprised

They also allow wedding of younger (over 20 years though) man to an older (less than 60 years) woman if she happen to loose her husband due to death or too ill to live a normal life.

They seem more sophisticated to me than they look. Cool

nothing hypocritical. thats just the way arab culture is - a man can divorce his wive with 3 swift "talaks" and get a new one, preferrably teenager.

I have heard of Muslim families where they marry cousins.
Obviously, its unethical but genetically speaking, it could spell real havoc for the society.

I am from India,

By LAW, a Muslim Man can marry 2 wives, however it is frowned upon,

In the States of SOuth India, Many Husbands have more than two wives but take care so that the two wives dont meet Smile

Where did you get that from? I've been to Thailand four times and am engaged to a Thai girl. I've never heard of a polygamy policy in that country.
