This thread is dedicated to any oddities and obscurities that you might come across and feel the need to share with others. The first one is from an old greeting card that a co-worker brought in.

Yeah... she had some really strange ones. I'm not sure in what situation you would give this card... but I'd have to imagine you wouldn't like the person very much.

Anyone who has driven down I-95 to Florida, knows about "South of the Border". You HAVE to know. Huge, garish billboards regale you every few miles for a few hundred miles before you reach that spot. Originally, SOB was a motel. It has morphed into a huge motel complex, with the tackiest gift shops and the worst restaurants for miles around.

It is located at the northern end of South Carolina, at the South of the North Carolina border. It is a good spot, because it is about halfway between the northeast and Florida. People who make the trip over one night, usually end up somewhere near SOB.

Years ago, I went there, once. I was so exhausted, that I could not even enjoy the tacky stores that are on the premises.

Ochopee Post Office, FL

The original Ochopee Post Office, opened in 1932, was located in a general store until it burned down in 1953. The present structure, measuring 7'3" x 8'4", had been the tool shed behind the store. After the fire, the shed was pulled closer to the road to be used as a makeshift post office. The Ochopee Post Office remains a local landmark on the Tamiami Trail and has gained national notoriety as the smallest post office in the United States.
