I learned that the woman who sang that song and did the video is really a serious muscian/singer. Classical stuff I think.

She was saying the whole thing embarrasses her, she just did it as a goof.

And an orstralian to boot.

As far as I recall 'Mickey' was originally called 'Rickey' and was a Racey track (ie Some girls do, some girls don't)

I'll see you that, and raise you a "... sailing away to Key Largo ..."

Mickey - sung by Toni Basil. Yes, that's really her in the video, and she really is wearing her Las Vegas High cheerleader outfit. Weird Al did a great parody of it -- "Ricky", of course -- with Yankovic dressed as Desi Arnaz and a Lucille Ball lookalike.

"Oh Ricky
what a pity
can't you understand?
That every show's a rerun
and the laughter's always canned"...

Cherish is the word I use to describe
All the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside
You don't know how many times I've wished that I had told you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could hold you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could
Mold you into someone who could
Cherish me as much as I cherish you

Not enough to drown .....

Midnight at the oasis
Send your camel to bed
Shadows painting our faces
Traces of romance in our heads

Heaven's holding a half moon
Shining just for us
Let's slip off to a sand dune, real soon
Kick up a little dust

Oh, Cactus is our friend
He'll point out the way
Come on 'til the evening ends
'Til the evening ends

You don't have to answer
There's no need to speak
I'll be your belly dancer,
And you can be my sheik

Oh yeah, that one grates at me.

"My eyes adored you ..."

Of course we used to add

My hands explored you
