As a freelance translator, I wonder if there is any 'nice' source of getting projects which is different from running to so-called 'professional' agencies. In case you know about any alternative way of getting projects, please let me know. My languages are German, English and Hindi.
I worked for a translation company for many years. The best way to get work is simple sales and marketing. Call companies that do international business and offer them your services. Raytheon, GE, even Microsoft among millions of others hire freelancers . Maybe think about getting security clearance, especially for the German. If you speak fluently in all three languages contact the courts or attorneys offices. You may need to become court certified.
